Massage Therapy is the scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body with either the hands or specialized instruments for the purpose of normalizing those tissues and consists of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement of or to the body.
Corrective Exercise is a specialized form of personal training with the goal of better posture. It is typically used in conjunction with Structural Bodywork. While it is possible to correct one's posture with Structural Bodywork or Corrective Exercise alone, the two techniques combined help the process to become a more permanent solution to pain caused by repetitive movement or body positions because the overworked muscles are being manually unrestricted while the under-worked opposition muscles are being tightened and strengthened for better posture.
Structural Bodywork, also known as Structural Integration and Rolfing, is a form of massage therapy using many different soft tissue manipulation techniques to focus on muscles and connective tissue with the goal of aligning the body for better posture, optimal performance, and/or pain elimination. This type of bodywork is typically done in a series of 10-12 systematic sessions.
